Custom Wood Bats for High School: 31-34 inches
We start to see a little bit more separation between players and batters when they hit the 10-14 year old age brackets, and then again from 14 to 18 years old when they're in high school. As the baseball field gets bigger, some players tend to struggle more than others. For those who continue to perform well at these levels, a wood bat is one of the next steps in helping players get ready for high school and even beyond. High school bat standards require a heavier bat (a "drop -3" weight, at least), and they specifically require these bats to perform more like wood bats. Even as the new USA bat standards have come into play, a lot of parents and players alike are wondering, "If they're making aluminum bats perform like wood bats, why don't we just get a wood bat?"
So here we are - Big Lumber custom wood bats are right in your wheelhouse. Typically, kids from 10-14 years old tend to do well with wood bats that are 28-inches to 32-inches, depending on their size, of course. Then in high school, we see a lot more kids using the 31-34" bats with varying barrel diameters depending on preference or what the kid is looking to improve in his hitting. Another advantage of using a wood bat in batting practice is that players get the help from the added weight without the use of a "donut" weight. When a player warms up with a donut weight, he can't take batting practice with the weight on the bat. With a heavier wooden bat, however, you're free to swing away, learning swing mechanics, bat control and better contact hitting. |
